In an idyllic and preserved setting nestled in the hills alongside a narrow winding road, the commune of Théoule-sur-Mer is a charming village of 1,500 inhabitants just 40 kilometers from Cannes and a perfect starting point for discovering the Esterel and its surroundings.
The Esterel corniche, also known as the Golden Corniche is a 40 kilometer stretch of road along the Côte d’Azur between Frejus and La Napoule. Following the jagged cliffs, it’s a spectacular drive and the perfect way to discover the other facet of the French Riviera, a region which too many tourists simply equate with the cities of Nice, Saint-Tropez and Cannes. The Esterel possesses a preserved environment where wild nature reveals itself in all its rugged beauty. Creeks, mountains, caves and beaches create as many landscapes as there are activities.
One however, is also struck by the incredible play of colors with the red of the cliffs like a jagged crown running into the azure blue sea, the summits of the massif and the lush green vegetation. The contrasts are most dramatic at sunrise and sunset.
Upon discovering the Tiara Yaksta, we feel that we are in a private home or a luxury retreat. With only 21 rooms and suites, the Yaksta emphasizes the concepts of intimacy and exclusivity. Entering this oriental universe means leaving the ambiance of the Côte d’Azur behind and discovering a haven of peace where harmony and serenity reign supreme.
The lobby alone is a feast for the eyes. Its subtle décor is a perfect balance, with oriental lamps and Lalique glass works including an impressive low table. The terrace of the reception area, where guests check in, gives them an initial look at the magnificent view, one of the hotel’s key features. It’s a breathtaking panorama over the Bay of Lérins and the Esterel massif. Of all the accommodations, the most luxurious by far is the Penthouse, an 80 square meter suite with two terraces, two jacuzzis and of course, an uninterrupted view of the Esterel’s unforgettable landscapes.
The gastronomic restaurant, L’Or Bleu, has an enchanting terrace as well, but above all, it offers guests a menu with Mediterranean and Provencal dishes all updated with great creativity. Whether it’s fish from the nearby waters or delicious cuts of meat, the taste and talent of Fabrice Giraud are a delight for those dining here.
The Yaksta has taken full advantage of its incredible location on the cliffs to create a zen like garden below filled with the aromas and colors of its flowers all year long. Canopy daybeds are an invitation for guests to lie back and take in the magnificent view, unless of course they’re tempted by a swim in the infinity pool.
As a veritable poetic tribute to the Orient, the Yaksta celebrates the Côte d’Azur and its legendary life style with a hotel in which intimacy is never at the expense of the spectacular and where the overwhelmingly beautiful landscape heightens rather than eclipses the unique experience of each visitor.
The Miramar Beach Hotel & Spa, just a few meters away, is the sister hotel of the Miramar, and its gastronomic restaurant offers a different but equally spectacular view, over the Bay of Lérins as well as a spa and a private beach open to guests of the Yaksta.
