Ideally located between the Tuileries Gardens and the Opéra Garnier, the Place Vendôme is a symbol of luxury in general, and more specifically, of the world’s finest jewelers. The column in the center bears the same name as the square itself. The Place Vendôme was the work of the architect of Versailles, Jules Hardouin-Mansart, who in 1699, created a strict and radical urban plan, since in order to build this octagonal esplanade, he had to destroy several buildings, one of which was Capucine convent. One of the adjacent streets is still called the rue des Capucines. Today, a great many of the facades have been classified as historic monuments. Originally, there was an equestrian statue of Louis XIV here, but it was destroyed during the French Revolution. Napoléon had it replaced by the present column, built thanks to the melting down of 12,000 cannons. The classic and elegant Place Vendôme is linked to the Opéra Garnier by the no less famous rue de la Paix, the most valuable property in the French version of Monopoly, and a street where the great names in international jewelry stand side by side with renowned palace hotels. On the Tuileries side, the rue Saint-Honoré is lined with boutiques representing all the great names in the world of fashion. And for those more interested in the cultural side of Paris, the Louvre is just a few steps away.
The Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme, located on the prestigious rue de La Paix and recently promoted to the rank of palace, occupies the building of the former high fashion house of Paquin and is a masterpiece of elegance. A blend of contemporary and classical French styles, the interior architecture is the work of designer Ed Tuttle. In the filtered atmosphere of the different salons, the furniture whose style varies from Louis XVI to 1930s Art Déco, is in direct contrast to the columns, the ceilings with gilded cornices and contemporary works.
The rooms and suites contain noble materials including mahogany, silk, bronze and Parisian stone for the bathrooms. Sobriety and elegance are highlighted rather than ostentatious flourishes. In order to provide the exceptional service required for a demanding clientele, the hotel has created new generation suites called “the In-suite Spa”. The concept offers guests the individual comfort of a spa inside their suite. The bathroom therefore is equipped with an incredible hammam shower, a whirlpool bathtub, a massage table and a hair salon armchair. And if a guest isn’t fortunate enough to benefit from his own private spa, the hotel possesses a 250 square meter Spa as original in design as the rest of the hotel. Extending beyond the salons, the bar, with its filtered atmosphere, is an ideal place to try one of the house’s original cocktails such as the “Inside my Bubble” or the “Park Flower”. Lunch can be taken under the glass roof of “Les Orchidées” restaurant and in the evening, the “Pure”, a vast rotunda surrounded by columns and works of art is the perfect place to discover the cuisine of Jean Francois Rouquette, a Chef with a star in the prestigious Michelin Guide.
The hotel’s elegance, refinement and the excellence and discretion of its service have made this five star address on the rue de la Paix a favorite with the world’s elite and a reference in the category of palace hotels.
