The 26 atolls of the Maldives archipelago form a chain of almost 1,200 islands stretching over about 800 kilometers from North to South. The very pleasant all year round climate with temperatures rarely dipping below 26 degrees Celsius and the beauty of the landscapes have made this small country an extremely popular tourist destination.
The Ari is the Maldives’ largest and northernmost atoll. In spite of its 61 small desert islets, it is the most heavily populated in the archipelago containing no less than 18 inhabited islands of which 25 possess a hotel.
Its fabulous marine depths with an infinite number of colorful fish swimming amongst the coral reefs make it a diver’s paradise. On certain reefs, it’s not uncommon to run into gray or whale sharks. Diving enthusiasts cannot help but be fascinated by these incredible wonders.
The island of Dhidhoofinolhu is situated 25 minutes by hydroplane from the capital city of Malé. It is one of the largest islands in the archipelago, an earthly paradise bordered by no less than 4 kilometers of fine white sand beaches. And yet all of this beautiful opulence is reserved for one hotel: the Lux Maldives, a luxurious establishment with a playful character where the idea of a relaxing enjoyable and fun vacation takes on all its meaning.
Upon arriving, the guest discovers an elegant and sober resort with small decorative touches that are a hint of the laid back atmosphere that permeates the hotel, like the lamps in the reception area inspired by coral reefs. A telephone booth adjacent to the lobby enables guests to make free international calls in order to inform family and friends how little they miss home! It is truly impossible to feel anything but well in this establishment designed for pleasure and play in a veritable art de vivre atmosphere. Life at the Lux is built around little surprises concocted daily by the attentive staff. There exists for example, a secret bar the venue of which changes every day. The “bottles in the sea” game is another activity. The staff hides bottles all over the island, and those who find them win prizes like a free treatment at the hotel’s magnificent spa with its 15 villas proposing traditional Chinese treatments.
The resort’s 193 villas are all spacious and ideally situated in order for guests to get the most out of the view of the lagoon and the light emanating from the Maldivian sky. Whether mounted on stilts or nestled on a private beach, the comfort is instantaneous and durable with a sober décor and touches of color to brighten up the space.
The greatest quality of the Lux is the preserved nature surrounding it which is maintained and protected so that visitors can take full advantage of an incredibly rich biosphere. Fish, turtles and sometimes even whale sharks can be found in the lagoon famous for its biodiversity.
The Lux possesses two famous diving areas, one adapted for beginners and the other for seasoned veterans in search of unforgettable sights.
