Old Lyon, steeped in history

Located at the foot of the Fourvière hill, old Lyon is one of the largest existing Medieval and Renaissance quarters. Its architecture is linked to the Florentines who accompanied Catherine de Médicis for her marriage to the son of François Premier. It was during this era that balconies, interior courtyards, colored facades and very southern type arcades were created. Old Lyon also represents the soul of the city with neighborhoods like Saint-George, where the silk weavers originated, Saint-Jean, with its alleyways and its pedestrian streets or Saint-Paul, immortalized by the Bertrand Tavernier film, “The Clockmaker of St. Paul” starring Philippe Noiret. Old Lyon was also the first place in France to undergo a programmed urban renewal operation, the objective of which was to upgrade and restore the old centers of big cities in order to protect the heritage represented by these quarters of the city. The unique aspect of Old Lyon was recently recognized by UNESCO which classified it as a world humanity heritage.

A Florentine palace on the banks of the Saône

In the heart of this quarter steeped in history, La Cour des Loges proposes 61 rooms and exceptional facilities and services. The Chambre Supérieure possesses centuries old woodwork, heavy curtains large mirrors, and both contemporary and Renaissance furniture, all facing the interior courtyards.

After strolling around the pedestrian streets and getting lost in the numerous alleyways, guests can take advantage of the peace and quiet offered by their hotel. The bar with its two cozy retro designed salons, proposes a highly refined menu. The Café Epicerie, a name which recalls the spice trade of the 16^th century, offers a variety of delicious, original and light dishes.
