Since the early 1990s, the Dubai Emirate has experienced a building boom, barely slowed down by the world economic crisis of 2008. As a symbol of its success, this former fishing village has become a city of skyscrapers, shopping centers and hotel complexes which rival each other in their audacity, their extravagance and their advanced technology. The number of construction projects designed to provide its seven million annual visitors with luxury and exclusivity are endless. Dubai makes one’s head spin with taller and taller buildings, bigger and bigger malls, the maddest architectural ideas and the most excessive decadence. Nothing is impossible in Dubai and especially when it comes to luxury. The unbridled race towards “gigantism” has given birth to some incredible projects like the seven star Burj Al Arab hotel, the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world and a 223,000 square meter shopping center with 800 boutiques. But the great particularity of this mall is its location in the heart of a totally unique ultra-luxurious complex.
The Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates is a five star hotel located inside a shopping mall. It has 400 rooms and suites in five categories ranging in size from 35 to 300 square meters. The hotel’s décor is extremely elegant, refined, and totally modern with marble bathrooms, chandeliers and cigar smoking rooms. Eastern hospitality is at its zenith here. In the way of services dedicated to the guest’s well being, the Kempinski possesses an ayurvedic spa, a Dessange-Paris beauty salon and tennis courts not to mention the indispensable infinity swimming pool. The hotel’s greatest assets however, are its 15 chalets. That’s right, chalets! Not only is the hotel adjacent to one of the world’s biggest malls, but also one of the biggest indoor skiable slopes! It’s a veritable winter sports station, equipped with chair lifts, trails bordered by pine trees and of course, ski instructors, and the most unique aspect of all is that it’s located in a country with an average temperature of fifty degrees Celsius! This incredible technical challenge took four years to accomplish and was carried out by a French company. The Kempinski Mall of the Emirates therefore, is much more than a simple luxury hotel. It’s a total experience, a condensed example of Dubai, with all its excesses and comforts.
The Mall of the Emirates is more than just a commercial center. It’s a show in itself. As a tourist site, it’s an ideal refuge when the outdoor temperature reaches the torrid level. There are spas, several swimming pools, two mosques and a movie complex with fourteen cinemas. The mall even has it own VIP entrance.
