Inveterate luxury shoppers, art lovers or simple sightseeing strollers are among the visitors attracted to the French capital, a city that has stoked the creative flames of writers, painters and film makers who have immortalized sites such as the Eiffel Tower, the banks of the Seine, the Sacré Coeur and the Place Vendôme on paper, on canvas and on screen.
Less known than these emblematic sites, the 16th arrondissement of Paris is primarily residential in spite of its numerous museums including the Musée Baccarat, the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris, the Palais de Tokyo, the Musée Guimet, the Musée Galliera and further west, the Vuitton Foundation for the creation of contemporary art in the form of a futuristic monument.
Home to numerous embassies and consulates, the 16th also possesses its own boutique filled streets like the rue de Passy. In the collective imagination, the arrondissement is a quarter for the wealthy, as can be seen by the houses with large gates, carved stone buildings and luxury hotels, and although since the 1950s, it is no longer the city’s most expensive quarter, it is still emblematic of Parisian classicism and chic.
Located a few steps from the Arch of Triumph and the Champs-Elysées, the Majestic Villa Hotel combines the quintessence of a luxury hotel and the precious freedom of a “home sweet home.” In addition to the classic and sumptuous rooms and suites of a hotel in this luxury category, the Majestic also proposes fully equipped apartments in which guests can feel independent, “at home”…but better!
Under the leadership of the owner and director, Véronique Valcke, the transformation of the building was entrusted to architect, Raluca Urseanu, and the interior decor to interior architect, Paul Sartres. The result, after two years of renovation, is a successfully executed resolutely contemporary decor in complete harmony with the philosophy of the hotel: upscale quality, originality and refinement permeate every inch of the new Majestic.
The numerous works of contemporary art on the wallsremind the visitor of the importance of modern art to the owners of the site, the Baverez family. Portuguese stone and cabochon are used for the ground floor, Carrare marble was chosen for the upper floors and the staircase of honor, with an abundance of oak wood everywhere else.
In the rooms and apartments we find fabrics by Nobilis, Maison Leliévre and Rubelli. The virgin wool carpeting is from New Zealand, and the furniture from Mise En Demeure and the Portuguese designer, Mobiramos. The Raynaud Petitot lamps complete this refined decor in which technology is also used for comfort.
Parquet, moldings and fireplaces are the order of the day in the 24 typically Parisian apartments which include no less than 450 square meters of private terrace. The Penthouse terrace even has a fountain and its own pool.
After taking advantage of one’s terrace and private apartment, it’s time to visit the spa, one of the highlights of the Majestic: 450 square meters including an infra red heated sauna, a magnificent hammam with blue mosaics, a gym and a swimming pool with a lovely waterfall await guests who want to practice wellness in an exceptional setting.
The relaxed and intimate Le M agnum restaurant and the Premium Bar offer guests a warm and filtered atmosphere, ideal for enjoying a drink around the fireplace or trying the modern and delicious cuisine.
Véronique Valcke wanted her hotel to respect the environment. For this reason, motion detectors were installed in the rooms, the café is a fair trade establishment, the dairy products are organic, the detergents non-abrasive and the bathrobes in honeycomb “so as not to use too much water when washing them.”
