Bullfighting, tapa bars, paella, Pedro Almodovar and flamenco are some of the typical clichés that come to mind when one thinks of Spain. Fortunately however, everyone knows that there is more to a country than clichés, and this could not be more true than in the case of Spain. What is truly striking is the number chic and trendy hotels that have sprung up here in the last ten years. The Hotel Pulitzer is a luxury boutique hotel and proud of it! There’s nothing hidden here. Everything is ostentatious, and wherever one looks, there’s style, style and more style! Located in the Eixample quarter, just a few steps from the legendary and pedestrian Ramblas with its chic boutiques and on a street which leads directly to the Cathedral Plaza, the trendy and chic Pulitzer opened in 2004. The building, which dates back to the 1920s was totally modernized while leaving intact the original façade. The Pulitzer’s strong personality is obvious as soon as you enter the lobby. The soft, deep leather sofas are an invitation to relax and act as representatives of the pure Barcelona style that runs throughout the hotel. Lacquered bookcases and contemporary works of art add tremendous charm to the common areas, not to mention the Baroque Sicilian altar which serves as the reception desk and the gigantic floral compositions. The rooms are no less charming with leather, of course, dark wood, high quality furniture and high tech material. The bathrooms, tiled in gray stone, prolong the effect. Luxurious, cool and cosmopolitan, the Pulitzer is a true contemporary urban hotel with a restaurant concept equal to all the rest. The Visit is a threefold experience. The first, called simply, The Visit, specializes in updated Mediterranean cuisine, and is located in a greenhouse. The Visit Up, is open in summer and is on the roof, with a décor inspired by Bali. Finally, The Visit Cocktail Bar and Easy Food offers light dishes at any time of day or night.

The work carried out on the lighting, especially in the lobby, makes the Pulitzer one of the city’s most popular meeting places. A number of bay windows magnify the magnificent light of day in a spectacular manner.
