For a long time Marrakesh, Morocco’s fourth largest city, was the country’s economic and cultural center. Still today, it possesses fantastic decors and a special atmosphere destined to charm young and old alike. To truly immerse oneself in the local culture and discover the traditions which represent the wealth of Marrakesh, the medina, in the center of the city, is the place to go, with its thousands of craftsmen spread throughout the quarter, selling a multitude of objects including clothing, and the herbs and pastries for which Morocco is famous. Whether you’re looking for a superb, brightly colored carpet, an oriental style wrought iron table or simply a pair of babouche, traditional slippers made in Morocco, you’re bound to find it here. At the same time, you can visit the famous Djemaa el Fna square with its snake charmers, story tellers and henna tattoo artists, with, as a backdrop, the famous Koutoubia mosque whose minaret can been be seen for kilometers around. In the evening, the square is lit, embellishing this space, which in 2001, was declared a UNESCO world heritage.
Located a few steps fro the celebrated Marrakesh medina, the hotel Amanjena welcomes you into an exceptional setting of vivid colors and local fragrances. As soon as you arrive, you’ll be charmed by the warm atmosphere of the reception space and the common areas.
All of the hotel’s pavilions and houses are luxuriously decorated in typically Moroccan style, with pink and orange walls, magnificent Berber carpets, sparkling, candle lit lanterns and chandeliers, typical North African ceramics or zelliges and magnificent fountains. The pavilions have a beautiful bedroom and a green marble bathroom. Some have their own heated swimming pool. The two-story houses, in pure Moroccan style, contain several bedrooms and bathrooms and a pleasant living room space with a view of the swimming pool. The jewel of the hotel however, is the Al Hamra house which combines two pavilions, with a very large living room-dining room, two minzahs or small pavilions, a superb 36 square meter swimming pool and the services of a private butler.
A 200 square meter spa is open to all guests who wish to profit from the relaxing benefits of the hammam and the gently aromatic treatments offered. The hotel also proposes varied activities including tennis and golf, and for lovers of total relaxation, sunbathing alongside the pool or snoozing under a parasol.
Three restaurants with three different type atmospheres are available throughout the day. The Pool Terrace is ideal for a poolside lunch, and the Thai restaurant offers refined dinners. Finally, Le Restaurant welcomes guests to a classic setting with white tablecloths and rose petals, where you can enjoy both local and international dishes.
