Although its Victorian façade might seem somewhat austere, entering the lobby is like entering a totally different world. The Dylan is the contrary of what designers call a “pure” hotel. The impression one gets is of a hotel that is too full, overcrowded and saturated and yet, it works! Playing with shapes and colors gives the Dylan a boudoir-chic style which is both playful and, to be perfectly honest, decadent. Nothing is held back here, and guests are invited to dive head first into the dizzying, post-modern design. No need however, to be apprehensive. The design is refined, and the aesthetic excesses are always counterbalanced by well-conceived placement of objects and great attention to detail. Comfort is a priority, and the service is impeccable, making the hotel a refuge or cocoon, in contrast with the city of Dublin, while still revealing its gentle, hidden, discreet but terribly attaching sense of madness. This madness is palpable in the hotel’s bar, one of the best in the city, and whose visual décor is like an encounter between David Lynch and Lewis Carroll! The rooms are of course, sumptuous with the total high-tech comfort one would expect of a five star hotel. The beds are so monumental in both size and décor that one could almost forget to visit the city!
