La Baule, in France’s Loire-Atlantique department, is a seaside resort in the Bay of Poulignon which experienced tremendous growth at the end of the 19^th century thanks to the development of tourism. Its famous pine forest was created in 1840 with the goal of halting the progress of the dunes and is now one of the region’s most well known landscapes, along with the city’s 8 kilometer long beach, considered to be one of the most beautiful in Europe. Tourism, the city’s principal industry, is responsible for the population increase from 16,000 to 150,000 in high season. Synonymous with relaxation, La Baule today is a highly reputed thalasso-therapy spa center. Health and well-being go hand in hand here in a natural setting worthy of its reputation as one of France’s most beautiful coasts.

Ideally situated at the tip of the Bay of La Baule, the entire Château des Tourelles faces the ocean.
