Located in the heart of the Alps in the Mont Blanc region, Megève is undoubtedly one of the word’s most high class ski resorts, but also one of the most well preserved.
Created in 1912 by Baroness de Rothschild to compete with the Swiss resort of Saint-Moritz, Megève became THE chic ski station while still preserving the charm of a veritable mountain village, with one exception: the old farms were transformed into elegant and authentic chalets. At the origin of this transformation was Henry-Jacques Le Même, who built, for the baroness, a chalet inspired by the farms in the region. It was his brilliant idea to create large openings in the walls to replace the small ones that had been used to combat the cold weather. Considered the inventor of the winter resort chalet, he inspired a great many architects and entrepreneurs, and Arnaud Zannier was undoubtedly one of them.
Chef Marc Veyrat dismantled and restored his father’s farm to create a nostalgic, typically Savoyard hotel. Arnaud Zannier turned it into a minimalist, ultra stylized boutique mountain hotel employing the formula of the visionary Leonardo da Vinci: “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”.
Located in the heart of the village of Megève, on a vast property, the Chalet Zannier consists of 3 wood and stone buildings. A Private Chalet, occupying the whole of one of the 3 buildings, is 3 floors high with a surface of 750 square meters. It has 8 bedrooms, a private spa and a movie theatre.
The tone is set immediately in the salon-library which is also the reception office, with natural materials, stone washed linen for the couches, old wood for the tables, earthen colors and furniture gathered from all over France and Italy.
In the rooms and suites whose sizes vary from 30 to 140 square meters, we find the same unity and tonality in the decor. The simplicity of the authentic and contemporary interior architecture, with its patina walls, blends perfectly with the imperfection of the antique objects, the stone and the white or beige linen to create a warm and cozy space.
Wherever one looks, there’s the feeling that great importance and respect has been paid to the integration of local traditions and knowhow.
In the suites, the living room with its fireplace is on the ground floor and the bedroom on the first floor, with two large terraces that cover the entire villa, offering guests an exceptional view of the skiable area and the village of Megève.
In this exceptional boarding house, a space is naturally dedicated to wellness. In a very pure decor, with the walls covered with natural whitewash paint, guests can take advantage of a variety of massages and therapeutic treatments after a long day of skiing.
A large indoor pool invites guests to relax by swimming a few laps. On all levels, The Chalet’s goal is to return to the fundamentals of private hospitality.
Located in a former stable, the restaurant is in the same image as the rest of the hotel and proposes a cuisine consisting of seasonal products and ingredients assembled simply by the French Chef, Julien Burlat, well known to customers of the Dome in Antwerp. In the salon, alongside the fireplace or on the sunny terrace, guests can enjoy a Jerusalem artichoke and black truffle or an “Alpille lamb” and live the moment in total simplicity.
A traditional « mazot » or chalet by Lacroix furnishes all the equipment necessary for getting the best out of the skiable slopes of Megève.
