Every year, for the last several decades, tourists from all over the world have been coming to discover the fabulous scenery, the pleasant climate and the magnificent beaches of the Seychelles. This archipelago consisting of 115 wild and paradise like islands, has, as its capital, Victoria located on the largest island in the Seychelles, Mahé.
Less than 100 kilometers away, in the middle of the ocean, we find the small island of Denis. Owned by a wealthy Seychelles family dedicated to preserving it intact, it now possesses a beautiful hotel built with total respect for the surrounding nature, which reigns supreme here. Denis Island is a haven of peace with fine sand beaches and peaceful waters tempered by an Indian Ocean lagoon. It’s also a paradise for sterns and turtles, and the protection of its biodiversity has become top priority here, which is why over the last few years, a great deal of work has been carried out on its 50 hectares of forest to restore the natural habitat of certain bird species which are in danger of extinction.
Just a few minutes by plane from Mahé, we find the fabulous Denis Private Island. Nature is king here, and as soon as guests set foot on the island, the show begins. The welcome is warm and the staff dynamic.
Guests are received in 25 villas spread over the northwest tip of the island, in perfect harmony with the natural environment and located about ten meters from the beach. These particularly spacious villas offer guests elegant living spaces, equipped with every possible modern comfort. The furniture is in wood, the four-poster beds are protected by netting and the bathrooms open onto the outside in a small courtyard sheltered from curious eyes. Each villa has a garden and a terrace and some, like the Beach Villa, have a private swimming pool, an outdoor dining room and a massage area.
In addition to simply relaxing on the beach, numerous activities are offered for young and old alike like deep sea diving and fishing, canoeing, tennis and even a guided tour of the island in the company of a naturalist who helps guests discover the fantastic flora and fauna of this wild territory including turtles and rare birds which are particularly fond of the area.
The hotel’s restaurant offers a high quality international cuisine and a number of local dishes thanks to products coming directly from the hotel’s vegetable garden, from fishing in the lagoon and from local farms. Guests can dine on the beach and accompany their meal with the finest vintage wines from all over the world available in the hotel’s wine cellar, or if they prefer, they can opt for a more intimate candlelight dinner under the stars on the terrace of their villa.
The coral island of Denis is on a human scale, with 25 villas on the water and a sober and chic décor, far from the stereotypes of traditional hotels. You feel at home here…except for the fact that the bathroom opens onto the garden. – Elle Déco Belgium
