Since the 1990s, Prague has been one of primary tourist destinations in central Europe. Every year, visitors come here in great numbers to discover its splendor, including the famous Prague castle, steeped in history, the bridges over the Vitava and its city hall. One of the most frequented spots is Wenceslas Square, part of one of Prague’s main squares which, under the reign of Charles IV, was the site of a horse market. Today, it has become a broad avenue, lined with lime trees, shopping centers, restaurants and bars. Up above, there’s an equestrian statue of Wenceslas, the king of the country, who after having been canonized, became the patron saint of the Czech Republic. It was on this square that the important events of the 20th century took place like declaring the country a republic in 1918, or the demonstrations that were held in the late 80s during the “Velvet Revolution.” Adjacent to this site, in the next square, visitors can discover the National Museum, an imposing building that still bears traces of the famous Prague spring of 1968. Another important square is the Old City, located in the historical center of Prague and dominated by the two-towered Gothic church known as Our Lady of Tyne, with magnificent paintings and the tomb of the astronomer, Tycho de Brahe.
Just a few steps from Wenceslas Square, we find the handsome design hotel known as The Icon. Situated in the heart of a large 19th century building, the hotel offers its guests one of the warmest welcomes in the city.
Thirty-one Standard, Deluxe and Superior rooms are available to guests assuring them of an excellent stay. In each room, we find a pleasant atmosphere, with an elegant and warm décor, beautiful contemporary furniture, an LCD TV, a DVD player and a very functional bathroom with bathtub and shower. The most luxurious rooms even have a living room area and a home cinema. But the hotel’s little extra are its beds considered to be the best in Europe! The Icon opted for unequalled comfort by installing Swedish Hastens brand beds. Entirely made by hand, and to measure if necessary, using natural and noble materials, these beds are an invitation to absolute and divine relaxation. The anti-allergic pillows in different sizes and the highest quality cotton bedding complete this equipment designed for a gentle and peaceful night’s sleep.
For those who want to take full advantage of their room and their cozy bed, breakfast can be served in their room at any time of day. Health and fitness enthusiasts will also be charmed by the various relaxing massages available at the hotel’s Zen Asian Wellness spa, ideal for forgetting the cares and woes of the daily grind. Finally, the Jet Set, the hotel’s lounge bar and restaurant proposes excellent wines and cocktails in a trendy design space, and refined and creative international cuisine.
“I settled right into the Icon, the most laid back and design hotel in the city. My room was as elegant as it was beautiful and comfortable, with a hand made bed and a bathtub that was so big, I could almost swim in it.” – Sophie Cooke, The Guardian
