Each of the numerous faces of Spain is an invitation to experience a different facet that forms the mosaic of the Iberian Peninsula, and to learn more about the soul of Spain. Whether one is attracted by the rich cultural wealth of cities like Barcelona and Madrid, by the age old traditions of Seville or Bilbao or the sunny, sandy beaches of the Costa del Sol, wherever you look, there is always something to discover. The Balearic Islands are no exception. In spite of occasional unflattering remarks about some of the sites like Mallorca and Ibiza, Furmentura is somewhat lesser known and better preserved. All of the Balearic Islands however, are the personification of the word, vacation. Ibiza has become the island of nightclubs and discos and a choice destination for “clubbers” from all over the world. However, there’s another Ibiza, far from the tinsel and the clubs, with rural charm, often untouched coves and a place where one can still breathe the air of this authentic site which the hippie generation discovered in the 1960s. And it was in this décor that a luxury hotel set up shop in order to offer its guests an extraordinary experience.
Perched on an 18-meter high hill above the sea, the Hacienda Na Xamena is a unique boutique hotel. Located in the middle of a wild and preserved pine forest, considered one of Europe’s most beautiful eco-systems, the Hacienda is a luxury refuge for those who want to escape the sound and the fury of the discotheques. The hotel is an invitation to enjoy peace and relaxation as witnessed by the numerous statues of Buddha present throughout the property. The idiosyncrasies of the hotel are well worth pointing out. The décor is reminiscent of nearby Africa as a result of its Moorish influences. In addition, the rooms are on the higher floors and the common areas on the lower levels, which takes nothing away from the splendor and charm of the hotel. The rooms are all magnificent with Arab style decorations, each with an uninterrupted view of the sea, which at this altitude is a view that one never tires of, especially while receiving a massage at the end of the day. The Posidonia Spa offers a wide range of treatments making the Hacienda a true paradise of well being, like the Suspended Cascade, a seawater therapy treatment that relaxes the body and the mind. The hotel has two restaurants: The Sueno de Estrellas for fancy dining, and the more informal Eden, which has become the trendiest place in this part of the island.
The land on which the hotel was built was discovered in the 1960s by its founder, Belgian architect, Daniel Lipszyc, who, it seems, said to his son: “Our duty is to share the emotion that we feel right now with other people”. Mission accomplished, since his son Alvar took over the family business a few years ago.
